Toyota Tundra Recalled to Fix Step Bumpers

Toyota is recalling 73,000 Tundra trucks for step bumpers that may break when stepped on. Affected are 2016-2017 Toyota Tundra trucks equipped with rear step bumpers made of resin, with resin reinforcement brackets at the corners.

If something comes into contact with a corner of the bumper, the impact can damage the resin brackets and cause part of the bumper to break away.

Toyota provided very limited information about the Tundra recall and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has not posted details online.

Toyota does say owners should be contacted sometime in February 2017 so dealerships can replace the resin reinforcement brackets with new ones that are made of steel. In addition, the rear bumper tread covers will be replaced.

CarComplaints.com will update this page when additional details are released about the Toyota Tundra recall, but owners are welcome to contact the automaker at 800-331-4331.
