Recall: Honda and Acura Seats Could Detach From the Floors

Honda is recalling more than 5,800 vehicles because the rivets may be faulty in the front seats.

Recalled are 2018 Honda Pilot and Ridgeline vehicles with both front driver and passenger powered seats affected by the problem, and the 2018 Acura MDX with only the front driver seat affected.

The automaker says there have been no reports of crashes or injuries related to the seats, but the vehicles were built with front seat assemblies that contain rivets that weren't manufactured correctly.

The rivets can fail to secure the seat slide rails to the forward part of the seats, something that could cause the front seats to separate from the floors in a crash.

The Honda and Acura recall is expected to begin May 18, 2018. Acura dealers will replace the entire seat frame assemblies in the MDX vehicles, and Honda dealers will replace the driver and front passenger seat slide rail frames in the Honda vehicles.

Owners may contact Honda customer service at 888-234-2138 and use recall numbers D0S and T0T.
