Audi RS 7 Recalled For Wrong Tire Labels

Audi RS 7 cars are recalled because of the dreaded tire label problem that consistently causes automakers to issue recalls.

In this case, more than 3,500 model year 2014-2018 Audi RS 7 vehicles have tire information labels that are printed with incorrect maximum weight ratings.

Audi says the correct combined maximum weight is 992 lbs/470 kg, but the labels say 1146 lbs/520 kg, something that could cause a driver to overload the car.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration didn't release information about how the tire labels were misprinted, but the incorrect labels violate federal safety standards and will need to be replaced.

Audi also doesn't explain why it took four years to discover the labels are wrong.

The Audi RS 7 recall is expected to begin April 8, 2018.

Dealers will replace the incorrect tire information labels, but owners with concerns may call the automaker at 800-253-2834 and refer to recall number 44N9.
