Toyota Recalls Sienna Minivans Over Rollaway Risk

Toyota is recalling about 310,000 model year 2005-2007 and 2009-2010 Sienna minivans in the U.S. to fix problems that can cause the minivans to unintentionally roll away.

Toyota says grease inside the shift lever assembly can move around and cause other internal components to go haywire. This can leave the gear shift lever with the ability to move out of the PARK position without pressing the brake pedal.

The minivan could roll away if the shift lever moves out of PARK without the parking brake applied.

Toyota dealers will replace the shift lock solenoid, remove the grease and reapply the correct amount of grease. Other than saying Sienna owners will be contacted in December 2017, Toyota didn't release more information about the recall.

Sienna minivan owners with questions should call Toyota at 800-331-4331.

CarComplaints.com will update this page when details are released by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
